Owned by the Clark family, The Warehouse Antiques and Collectables opened on the 1st November 2017 next door to Beers of Europe, the UK's biggest beer shop which has been open since 2000 and is also owned by the Clark family.
With over 15,000 square feet of air conditioned, bright and spacious floor and cabinet space, our opening received a warm welcome from both dealers and the general public alike.
On 6th January 2018 the Warehouse suffered a theft when two men entered the business armed with screwdrivers and proceeded to break into a cabinet and steal several hundreds of pounds worth of jewellery. Despite good HD CCTV images and information linking them to thefts in centres further afield, the culprits have never been found. Following the theft, Social Media Manager Kate realised that there was a missed opportunity for dealers in the area to easily share similar information and decided to set up a private facebook group to do just that.
The group, Stolen Antiques and Art in East Anglia – Dealers Only is for dealers and antiques centre owners to share any information about crime in the antiques and art world. Kate says "often there can be speculation about suspicious activity and descriptions can become vague once passed on more than once so I thought it would be a great idea to have one place where this could be easily and quickly shared. I decided that the group should be kept private so as to avoid letting any potential criminals know we were sharing information and on the lookout for them"
So far the group is small but we have hopes that more dealers in the region will join the group and share any information they may have, however unimportant they may think it to be. We would invite all dealers in the East Anglia region (comprising of Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Essex, Hertfordshire, Norfolk and Suffolk) to join. The more information we are all able to share, the harder we can make it for these acts to occur.
